St Decuman's Church

Watchet, Somerset

The oldest part of St Decuman’s Church in Watchet dates back to the 12th century with the rest of the church being from the 15th century.  The dedication is because Watchet is believed to be the place where Saint Decuman was killed.  The church stands on a prominent site overlooking the town.

Having met the minister of St Decuman’s Church in 2017 at the Christian Resources Exhibition, Clarity were pleased to be asked in 2018 to replace the church sound system.

An amplifier, media player and wireless microphone system were installed in an equipment rack.  In normal use the church just needs to switch the system on and leave it, minimal manual use is ever required.  A wall-mounted volume control panel (pictured above) was fitted so that the sound can also be controlled without having to access the equipment cabinet.

A discreet pair of high-quality Yamaha line-array loudspeakers (one pictured above) were installed at high level fitted to an adjustable bracket to give good sound coverage regardless of where the listener is located.  An over-ear microphone and a wireless gooseneck desktop microphone were supplied to ensure that anyone can be easily heard.  To finish, the church’s existing induction loop system was integrated with the new equipment.

“Please thank all involved for an excellent installation.”Reverend Clive Gilbert
