Clarity fully resourced for Primary Capital Programme

In light of the government’s announcement to commence funding for the Primary Capital Programme from 1st April 2009, Clarity in Sound, Light and Vision are ensuring that resources are in place to deal with the increased requirement for sound, lighting, and audio visual systems in primary schools as a consequence.

Clarity has been working in primary schools for over a decade and visits more than 120 primary schools per annum. Stuart Graham, Managing Director for Clarity commented, ‘Every school is unique in its design, and therefore every sound, lighting, projection, staging, curtain or LED lighting system has to be designed for each school's individual requirements’.

‘With Clarity’s track-record of completing projects under the government’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) initiative for secondary schools, and the work we already carry out in primary schools, Clarity is very well positioned to work with the schools, local education authorities, architects and main building contractors under the Primary Capital Programme initiative’.

Plans for the Primary Capital Programme were first announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the 2005 Budget Statement. Committing to renewing at least half of all primary school buildings by 2022-23 the aim of the programme is to create primary schools that are equipped for 21st-century teaching and learning at the heart of their communities, with children's services being in reach of every family.

The Primary Capital Programme will encourage and support local authorities to take a long-term strategic approach to capital investment and to transform teaching and learning in primary schools and is supported by £1.9 billion of capital investment in the period 2008-11.

Stuart Graham continued, ‘We want to make sure  that the schools are investing in the right equipment, we often get called in after other sound and lighting installation companies who don’t understand the requirement for schools and as a consequence they specify and install completely the wrong products.'

'Systems are often too complex to use and teachers do not use the equipment because they do not understand how it works. Every system Clarity designs and installs for primary schools is designed with simple every-day use very much in mind, and we always train teachers how to get the most out of the system so that its use is limited only by their imagination’.
